Ohio State Announces Brice Sensabaugh Out For Season Ahead of Game Agaisnt Purdue

The Ohio State basketball program announced Saturday that star freshman forward Brice Sensabaugh is out for the season after suffering a knee injury. The team is scheduled to tip off against Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament semifinal at 1 p.m. ET.

CHICAGO — Ohio State forward Brice Sensabaugh will not play in Saturday's Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament semifinal against Purdue at the United Center. The program announced that the star freshman suffered a season-ending knee injury.

“Brice has had an outstanding freshman season and played very well down the stretch,” Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann said in a release. “I know how badly he wanted to play, and we are disappointed for him. We are proud of him and his continued development as a player and I know he's looking forward to supporting his teammates again today.”

Sensabaugh left the team's second-round matchup against Iowa late in the game and did not play against Michigan State on Friday. Holtmann said after the 68-58 win over the Spartans that Sensabaugh would undergo further evaluation heading into Saturday's semifinal game.

In two games against the Boilermakers this season, Sensabaugh averaged 20.5 points per contest and was a combined 18-of-33 from the field. The third-team All-Big Ten selection and projected first-round NBA Draft pick was the leading scorer for the Buckeyes at 16.3 points per game while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from the 3-point line.

"We love to have Brice on the court," redshirt senior forward Justice Sueing said on Friday. "He does so much for us offensively and defensively. He raised our elevation of play. We have a lot of players on this team that can step up to the plate."

Purdue and Ohio State are scheduled to tip off at 1 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on CBS.
