Radio Show Nuggets: Three takeaways from Jeff Brohm’s weekly appearance
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue is set to take on Minnesota Saturday afternoon at Ross-Ade Stadium (3:30 p.m ET, ESPN2).
Purdue coach Jeff Brohm talked about his team and the upcoming matchup during his Wednesday evening radio show live from the Stacked Pickle on campus.
Here are the three of the biggest takeaways from the show:
Takeaway No. 1: Confidence is key
Brohm talked about his team’s confidence heading into Saturday’s game. After a long break following a tough loss, he believes his team needs to just get back on the field and do what they know that they can.
“I think we're ready to get back on the field and that’s what’s going to be important.” Brohm said. “We’ve got to continue to build our confidence and make sure come game day that we understand that we can get it done.”
Takeaway No. 2: Every guy has to be ready to play
Brohm discussed how his team is dealing with all of the injuries, and how every player on the team, even all of the young guys, need to be ready to play every game.
“You need all your guys to prepare hard, practice hard, and prepare like they’re the starter,” Brohm said. “You never know who’s going to be out there each and every week.”
Takeaway No. 3: Anthrop at RB
Something Brohm touched on last radio show, and I talked about in last week’s three takeaways, was reinforced once again tonight. Brohm plans on using Jackson Anthrop in a variety of ways. The wide receiver and special teams guy for the Boilermakers will begin to see touches in the backfield.
“This year we’ve just got to get him more involved,” Brohm said. “Jackson has experience, he practices hard and he understands the speed of the game.”
