Purdue defensive end Will Heldt is looking to build off a solid freshman campaign with the Boilermakers in 2023. He got off to a pretty good start in the spring game on Saturday.

Heldt, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound sophomore, recorded a pick six for the Hammer Down squad in Saturday's spring game at Ross-Ade Stadium. His interception came late in the third quarter, closing the gap to 13-10 against the Boiler Up team.

Heldt stepped in front of the pass and was able to avoid any potential tacklers on his way to the end zone. It was the only defensive touchdown in Saturday's spring game.

That touchdown from Heldt provided a nice spark for the Hammer Down team. Although the Boiler Up squad led most of the game, Hammer Down recorded a 17-13 victory in the spring game.

As a freshman in 2023, Heldt appeared in all 12 games for the Boilermakers and was responsible for 12 tackles. He was responsible for eight solo stops and a tackle for loss during Purdue's 4-8 campaign.

Purdue's spring game served as one of the last practices of the period. The Boilermakers will still have two practices after the game before rounding out the spring schedule.
