No. 1 2022 PG Dior Johnson Headed to National Hoops Power Oak Hill
After a dominant season at Mayfair (Lakewood, Calif.), sophomore point guard Dior Johnson, a Syracuse commit, has decided to transfer to Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.).
SI All-American First Team | Second Team | Third Team
“I wanted to settle at a good spot around good people for the most important last seasons of high school,” Johnson said. “I thought Oak Hill was a great spot to do it and to get me better as a student, a player and as a person.”
Johnson will be next in line for a program known for its elite point guards like Rod Strickland, Tywon Lawson, Rajon Rondo, Brandon Jennings, Cole Anthony and others.
The Warriors finished at No. 7 in the final ESPN 25 high school basketball rankings with a 37-3 record.
Oak Hill coach Steve Smith described Johnson as “a multifaceted point guard” who “has a wonderful feel for the game.”

“He can create shots in the half court by facilitating for a teammate or by getting the ball in the lane off penetration,” Smith said. “He can also create shots for himself off the dribble and is excellent at creating space. He has tremendous three-point range. With all that being said, he might be at his best in transition. He sees the floor with great vision and can really push the ball up-court with his passing ability.”
This season, Johnson averaged 24 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists a game and helped the Monsoons to a 17-12 record. Johnson’s numbers are even more impressive considering that he shared the backcourt with SI All-American shooting guard Josh Christopher, an Arizona State signee who averaged 30 points a game.
“I’m trying to be isolated and really focused on basketball and school while playing at the highest level,” Johnson said. “I want to be as prepared as possible for whatever comes next in the future.”
