The Michael Foster Blog: Baylor Visit, More Visits to Come, Back Home and More
Michael Foster is a consensus top 10 player in the 2021 class and one of the top big men in the country, regardless of class. This season he’s averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix), which has everyone from Florida State to Arizona to Michigan, among many others, all giving chase. Now, Foster has agreed to give SI All-American exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from intimate details about his recruitment to his everyday life in a blog on SI.
What’s up world, it’s Mike Foster back with blog No. 2!
I can’t believe that my season is over. We finished up last week and so now I’m headed home to train with Steve Becker and Drew Dunlap and get ready for USA Basketball and EYBL.
I’ll be running with Mac Irvin Fire on the EYBL and I feel like we’ll have a strong team that will have a chance to win the Peach Jam!
I had a lot of fun this season, but I’m happy to be back home.
No place like home for real!
RELATED: Michael Foster Not Thinking About Going Pro
I can get some runs in against some of the pros and college guys around here.
What I’ll be focusing on in my workouts is my strength and explosion mostly. I want to get my jumper even better too. I’m just going hard because I feel like I have a lot to prove this summer.
I would say that I want to be the No. 1 player, but I can’t control that. What I will say is that I don’t get outplayed ever. I don’t know how the rankings are done or anything like that, but I never get outplayed.
No game. No camp.
Not to be disrespectful to any of my guys either. I’m just focusing on getting better and letting my game speak for itself.
My recruitment is picking up too.
I’ve got an unofficial visit set for tomorrow to Baylor and I’m pretty excited about it.
I think, mostly, I want to see the difference in the conferences. I’ve been to a Big Ten school, an SEC school and a Big East school so far. I like to size myself up against other players and see what they do on the court.
Kansas, Florida State and Georgia are trying to set up visits with me, so we’re finalizing some things now. Then I’ll try and get to Illinois and Marquette too. I’m gonna sit down with them for a real visit to see where everything is at.
Also, I’m setting up a meeting with Oregon really soon. Michigan reached out and they’re trying to get me down for a visit. I really like Coach Juwan (Howard) so we’re gonna get that set up soon.
I don’t have a list or anything like that and I’m open to everyone at this point.
It’s been pretty busy, but that’s a good thing. I like where things are at with my recruitment right now.
I’ve had some pro teams overseas inquire about me to my coach, but I’m seeing more and more that college is gonna be the option for me.
I just think that’s what’s best for me.
I’ve been watching a lot of college basketball and Ant Man is really putting on a show for Georgia this season! A lot of guys are doing their thing, but he’s one that’s stood out to me.
A couple weeks back we went out to an event during NBA All-Star and had a good time. We played on a glass court and just had a good time; Quavo performed and we had a lot of great food and stuff like that.
We felt like we were NBA All-Stars!
Hopefully someday soon!
I’ve been still listening to NBA YoungBoy mostly, but I’m looking for a good summer anthem, so we’ll see what happens.
Being back home I’ll be able to get out to the playoffs and see all of my friends ball. I’m looking forward to normal life.
Oh, and my mom makes the best Snicker’s salad. It’s caramel, Snicker’s and apples and things like that.
Really good!
OK you guys, I’ve gotta get going, but, as always, thanks for tuning in.
I’m looking forward to a big spring and summer, so I hope you’ll be following along.
Check back soon for my next blog.
