The Michael Foster Blog: Down to Three, Decision Coming, Lil Durk and More

Foster said he should have a decision by the middle of April.

Michael Foster is an SI All-American and a consensus top 10 player in the 2021 class. This season he averaged 31 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and four assists for Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix), with a mix of elite colleges and overseas pro teams all applying the full-court recruiting press. Foster has agreed to give SI All-American exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from intimate details about his recruitment to his everyday life in a blog.

Mike Foster here kicking off a new blog for you guys!

My season just finished up last week, so I’m just happy with how we ended up. Our record was 32-3 and I felt like we grew as a team all year.

We learned lessons and made adjustments all year and that’s really all you can ask for.

I finished the season averaging 31 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and four blocks a game. I felt like I played well, but there were definitely guys that I wanted to see this season that I couldn’t get to because of COVID.

It’s all good though, I hope to see them again at the next level.

Speaking of that, I feel like I’m closer to making a decision.

Right now, I’m down to the G League, Georgia or Florida State and I think I’ll make my decision by the middle of next month.

With the G League, I love what they’re doing with all of the former high school guys. I look at a guy like Isaiah Todd and just see how much his game has grown. He always had an NBA game, and he was always really tough to play against, but I knew that his game would grow in a setting like that.

Florida State is a school that I know I’d be able to showcase my talent at. Coach Ham and those guys are trying to get this thing done this year and I love how they use their forwards. The style is great for me because I’m a big guy that can do a lot of different things.

With Georgia, Tom Crean is a great developer of talent and I love the atmosphere there. I wish I could’ve gone down there again, but with COVID it wasn’t possible. I know that if I went there my game would grow and I’d be in a good position.

A lot of people have asked me about the new Overtime league, but that’s not for me. I think it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out. We’ll see.

I’m proud to say that I’m a McDonald’s All American!

Of course, I was hoping to be able to play in the game, but it’s still a great honor to be able to say that I accomplished a goal I’ve had since the eighth grade.

I’m also honored to be named a finalist for the SI All-American team. I made the team last year as an underclassmen, so that was cool to be there with all of the talented seniors.

School is cool, I’m just finishing up and about to graduate in a couple of weeks. I expect to finish strong in the classroom.

I’ve gotta let y’all know that I’m very excited to see Lil Durk in concert in Phoenix on April 17, and I’ll be rocking my McDonald’s All American jersey to that show!

OK guys, I just wanted to give you an update real quick but check back soon and I’ll make sure to give you another update.

Take care!
