The Scoot Henderson Blog: Pandemic Pause, All-Time Leading Scorer, Recruitment and More
Scoot Henderson is an SI All-American nominee who dominated as a sophomore and this past summer. Now a junior, Henderson has become even more dominant with everyone from Kentucky to Kansas to Virginia, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, among others, all applying the full-court recruitment press. Now, Henderson has agreed to give SI All-American exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from intimate details about his recruitment to his everyday life in a blog.
What’s good world, I’m Scoot Henderson back with another blog for you guys.
Well, right now, we’re taking a pause on the season for COVID reasons. One of the players on the team we played against recently tested positive, so we have to take a break.
It’s crazy, but we’re all used to stuff like this right now.
I plan to be working my butt off on this break, so it won’t be a break for me at all!
I want to get a few of my teammates in the gym with me, so we can keep building that chemistry.

We’re 15-5 overall and 10-1 in the region.
Overall, we were playing well; we hit a little bit of a slump in the middle of the season, but we turned things around.
Individually, I feel like I’m growing. I’m still working on being a leader on the floor and knowing all of my guys’ tendencies and things like that. I know how they like the ball, I know when they’re hot and things like that. I watch more film and I really study the game.
Right now, I’m averaging 31 points, five assists and six rebounds a game.
Last week, I found out that I got the single-game scoring record when I had 53 points in my game. After that they told me I became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,493 points currently.
I’m definitely proud of that, but, honestly, it just makes me want to work that much harder now.
It’s motivating for me.
I want to shoutout my little sister Crystal too, she just hit 1,000 points and she’s a sophomore!
She’s a star! I guess you can say it runs in the family!
The recruitment is still cool, Memphis, Virginia, Tech, Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech and a few others have been reaching out consistently.

I haven’t started with the Zooms yet, we mostly just talk on the phone and text, but we’re just building a relationship right now.
I try and watch the teams play, but it usually conflicts with my schedule. I do see some though!
I love what Sharife Cooper is doing right now!
Sharife is doing his thing!
I like watching Jalen Suggs too; he’s had a strong year.
School is going well for me, I changed my schedule recently with my classes, but I’m handling it well.
I actually started watching this new show on Netflix that my brothers love called The Community, but I haven’t been able to finish it yet. I’ll let you guys know how I like it.
Musically, I’m listening to a lot of Vory, he’s a rapper out of Houston. His new mixtape is cool. So, him and Rylo Rodriguez are the ones I’m really listening to right now.
Also, I want to say that I know it’s hard during these times, being away from family and friends, but we have to take care of our minds. Mental health is very important, it affects our well-being. Let’s try to find healthy ways to help reduce stress.
OK, everybody keep washing your hands and wearing your masks and stay safe out there!
Thanks for reading and check back soon for my next blog.
