Emerging Alabama Lineman Almarion Crim Adds Offers Following Camp Effort

The college football recruiting offseason is well underway and prospects like Almarion Crim are adding options as they compete at prospect camps.

Do college football prospect camps help with the recruiting process?

Some say it's only about Friday night football and tape but there's no denying the ability to catch a coaching staffs attention with a notable competitive performance during any time of the year.

Just ask Almarion Crim, who took home offensive MVP honors at the inaugural Dex Preps Elite Camp in Alabama on Sunday. He has since picked up multiple scholarship offers he is crediting to the event and his performance.

"Yes sir," he told SI All-American of the boost since the camp wrapped up. "The (coaches) saw it and they was already looking at me."

Consider the camp updated validation for a rock solid junior season he put in at Adamsville (Ala.) Minor High School in 2019.

Jacksonville State offered Sunday and Georgia Tech followed up with an offer during the week. Western Kentucky and South Alabama round out the rising-senior's early offer list while programs like Tennessee and Kentucky are among the proframs in communication as of this writing.

The Georgia Tech extension was Crim's first from a Power Five program.

"It's great because it’s big time," he said. "It’s ACC and I think that’s where I think I fit in at."

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound interior offensive line prospect, as seen in the above video, isn't lacking in self confidence and he let some opponents know it after certain winning reps Sunday. There wasn't much discussion from the Dex Preps coaching staff as to who the top performer of the morning session, featuring offensive and defensive line prospect, was.

"It felt good, I came out here on a mission," Crim said Sunday. "I came out and worked hard, got what I wanted. I was good in pass-pro. Against the bull-rushing and speed, too.

"I feel like I can move well as an offensive lineman but I have to train and work hard every day. I want to get better at run blocking. I'm focused on playing guard and center."

Arkansas, Memphis, UAB, Troy and Southern Miss are also in some communication with Crim. He will take trips to several of the programs having offered beginning in March when the NCAA dead period is lifted and prospects can get back on the road. He spent time at Tennessee in January following fall trips to Auburn, UAB and Jacksonville State.

Crim will navigate the process as new scholarship offers come in without a clear timetable for making a final decision.

"I'm going to take my time with the process and not rush it," he said. "I'm going to let things flow and then see what's best for me."
