Top QB Bryce Young Scouts Future SEC Pass Catchers

Alabama-bound quarterback Bryce Young looks at a trio of pass catchers set to play in the SEC in 2020, including future Crimson Tide.

The top quarterback prospect in the land and first-ever SI All-American, Bryce Young, has about all the accolades a prep standout could.

The class of 2020 signee to the University of Alabama, who is already enrolled at the school, had a marvelous senior season at Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei Academy in which he threw for 4,528 yards accounted for 68 total touchdowns in the process. The four-year prep starter capped the performance side of his pre-college career as the No. 3 passer all-time in California State history and won MVP of the 2020 All-American Bowl to begin the New Year.

Before that point, he was named a national champion and took home a state championship for the Monarchs through an undefeated 2018 season that showcased Young's ability as a passer, runner and leader.

SI All-American had the head-turning talent in studio recently to talk all things football and Young proved to be observational as well.

As seen in the above video, Young helped us break down some future SEC pass catchers departing the high school ranks this year just like he is. Young lit up in talking about some of his peers, not just those bound to play for the Crimson Tide program he soon will. Here is who he broke down:

Tight End Arik Gilbert

The fellow SI All-American is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end who signed with LSU over Alabama during the Early Signing Period. Gilbert helped Marietta (Ga.) High School win a state championship during a banner senior season in which he compiled 1,800-plus receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

Wide Receiver Traeshon Holden

A Florida native who wrapped up his prep career in California just like Young did, Holden will also play with him at Alabama after signing in December. At about 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Holden racked up 512 yards and seven touchdowns in 2019 for Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne High School.

Wide Receiver Javon Baker

A current verbal commitment to Alabama, the Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern standout did not sign with the Crimson Tide during the Early Signing Period. Baker has been busy on the visit trail this month. He took an official visit to Arkansas over last weekend following a trip back to Tuscaloosa. In 2019 he hauled in 58 passes for 629 yards and 11 touchdowns.
