E.J. Smith, Son of Emmitt Smith, Commits to Stanford

E.J. Smith, the son of Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith, chose the Cardinal over Florida and Texas A&M among others.

E.J. Smith is creating his own path.

E.J. Smith, the son of Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith, will play for the Stanford Cardinal. Smith chose Stanford over his father's alma mater, Florida, as well as Texas A&M.

At 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, Smith is taller and leaner than his dad, but runs with the same type of vision and patience that helped Emmitt become the NFL's all-time leading rusher.

As he fills out his frame, Smith should play in the 210-pound range and keep his speed and agility. Smith wears the familiar No. 22, and there is something eerily familiar of seeing Smith approach the line of scrimmage, pick a lane and burst through it towards the end zone.

Smith is also a capable receiver who splits out wide for his Dallas Jesuit team from time to time.

Smith helped lead his team to the quarterfinals in the Texas State Playoffs before losing to Westfield.
