Arizona Quarterback Chubba Purdy Commits to Florida State
By way of Gilbert, AZ, Chubba Purdy has his eyes set on Tallahassee, FL.
Who could blame him? Purdy is one of new Florida State head coach Mike Norvell's (formerly at Memphis) first big-name commitments, and one that should pump some life back into the fading Seminole spirit. Any quarterback that throws 10 touchdowns in one game is clearly doing something right.
After originally committing to the Louisville Cardinals in June, the chance to be the guy for a historic program like Florida State proved too enticing of an offer for the Arizona Desert dual-threat.
Purdy's senior year proved very bountiful both through the air and on the ground, with 3,300-plus passing yards to go along with 1,000-plus rushing yards, and a total of 52 touchdowns (19 rushing). In his final game at Gilbert, when it mattered most, Purdy went 22 of 27 for 526 and five touchdowns. Not bad... for a dual threat.
Norvell is a well respected QB coach, which might explain FSU signing two 2020 QB's in the same day, one dual and one pro.
