1-on-1 With 2021 Mission Viejo QB Peter Costelli
SI All-American was at the first leg of the 2020 Under Armor All-America Game Camp series, kicking off in Los Angeles' Mission Viejo High School last weekend.
Peter Costelli, who nearly lead his Mission Viejo (Calif.) Diablos to a coveted open division California state championship bowl game appearance, is kicking his preparation into overdrive this spring.
Fielding offers from Nebraska, Oregon, Colorado, and Utah to name a few, Costelli is currently in the process of scheduling his spring visits.
"I want to catch some spring practices at most of these schools, just to see how the coaches interact with the players."
Costelli is not only mobile within the pocket and can extend plays to make off-schedule passes, but he's also got the wheels to tuck, run, and leave you in a cloud of Southern California smog. He's a certified speedster, playing a huge role on Missions Viejo's track team and clocking a 10.82-second mark in the 100-meter dash.
JT Hand (a max preps all-state center) was the other half of the 2019 Mission Viejo battery during his and Costelli's 2019 campaign. He had this to say about working with Costelli on and off the field.
He’s a great leader in games by staying calm, positive, and keeping everyone under control. He gets along with everyone off the field (and) respects his lineman (me). And whenever we need to work something new or just snap in general he doesn’t complain one bit and is all for it.
