Carter Changes Course, Won't Join Mustangs
DALLAS – It appears Arkansas defensive line transfer Tauren Carter has gotten cold feet.
The Mansfield native announced Wednesday afternoon that he intends to back out of his commitment to Rhett Lashlee's SMU Mustangs and has asked media not reach out regarding what's next.
Carter played in 28 games as an SEC defensive lineman and showed promise when not hampered by injuries. He committed just four days ago. However, the wording on his commitment post was odd, much like in his decommitment announcement that raised eyebrows when it referred to an opportunity given by the university as opposed to Rhett Lashlee or the SMU Mustangs.
"Any motion is better than no motion," he wrote in his original commitment, which wasn't exactly the excited endorsement often seen by transfers when they announce their new homes.
This means SMU fans can expect at least one more roster move prior to signing day next month as Lashlee prepares the Mustangs to enter ACC play.
