Ex-Mustangs WR Rashee Rice Starts Super Bowl Week with Whirlwind of Questions
Super Bowl Opening Night is a unique experience for NFL Players. One moment you’re answering a question about being Patrick Mahomes’s top receiver. The next you’re answering “What rice is better? Fried rice, white rice or Rashee Rice?”
“Rashee Rice,” Rashee Rice said with a big smile and laugh during Monday night’s festivities. The former SMU receiver spent less than 10 minutes speaking to reporters and fans but answered more than 20 questions in that time.
“I can’t describe it yet. There’s a lot going on. It’s strange,” Rice said about Opening Night. “Y’all are asking me a lot of questions and I got to have answers. But I’m up here just embracing the moment.”
Former SMU WR Rashee Rice Didn't Surprise Anyone in Dallas
Opening Night was the start of Rice’s first Super Bowl experience, which will be quite different from his days in Dallas. Rice seemed to enjoy the night with laughs and a big smile throughout his time on the podium. But the second round draft pick isn’t going to let this experience impact his gameplay.
“I’m just trying to not let the moment be too big,” he said. “Embrace every moment as it goes on because life is too short.”
Rice has certainly embraced his opportunities playing with the league’s best quarterback. The four year starter at SMU finished his rookie season in Kansas City with 79 catches, 938 receiving yards, and a team-high seven touchdowns. He continued his stellar season in the Chiefs’ three playoff games with 20 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown.
Now he is going for his first championship Sunday in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49'ers that will be broadcast on CBS and fuboTV with Jim Nance and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo calling the game.
