DALLAS — Nobody really should take a particular social media post by Brett McMurphy of the Action Network seriously. It likely was written completely tongue in cheek ahead of the ACC's scheduling format for several years in football Monday. It will be the first time SMU will be included in much other than the announcement they are coming to the party along with Cal and Stanford in 2024.

This, of course, has led to some wild speculation everywhere about what it would look like, but the only thing that's sounded like anything close to likely is the league sticking with an 8-team rotation of some type through the league. There are, obviously, some long-standing rivalries they would like to keep in place but the Mustangs don't have any over that leap immediately to mind.

What it likely will do is add some marquee teams coming to Gerald J. Ford Stadium in the future and the Ponies' schedule every year. Names like Florida State, North Carolina, Clemson, Miami will draw more folks to The Boulevard.

More importantly, it's a big boost to potential recruits in football and every other sport. Considering the first three of those schools listed above voted against the Ponies joining the ACC, it is interesting to look at Monday's schedule release. McMurphy posed a delightfully juicy in a social media post that would be poetic justice.

The possibilities for fun there never cease. We want to add quickly that is probably with a lot of chuckling about it, but it would be funny. It would also announce to everybody the ACC didn't particularly care for those schools wanting to get out and took some form of asseting control. We can argue later over being a little petty, but that's really a problem for others right now ... SMU isn't even in the league, yet, right?
