Daniels Lands AAC Player of the Week Honors
DALLAS – SMU wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. was named the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week in a release by the conference on Monday.
Daniels was one of seven Mustangs to score in a 55-0 blowout of Temple in Philadelphia. SMU was already up 24-0 after the half when he wove through the entire Owls punt team along the right sideline for a 67-yard touchdown that slammed shut any hope of a second half comeback by Temple. It was the first SMU punt return since 2013.
Daniels finished with 105 all-purpose yards, his fourth career game with at least 100. This is the first time the Duncanville native has won the award in his collegiate career.
The Mustangs return to action this upcoming Saturday to take on Tulsa at Ford Stadium. Kick is set for 11 a.m. and can be seen on ESPNU.
