DALLAS – The SMU Mustangs lost a key leader on its offensive line heading into their inaugural football season in the ACC.

Junior offensive lineman Branson Hickman, who handled center duties for over 2.5 seasons, has announced he will transfer. In a post on Twitter, Branson announced he will finish his degree at SMU this spring and will formally enter the portal in April.

Hickman, who grew up in McKinney while attending high school at Jesuit, has started 33 games and was Second Team All-AAC this past season. His experience and success on the field immediately figures him to be a high priority Power Five prospect.

This means the man who will be delivering snaps to quarterback Preston Stone next may not be on campus until after spring practices.
