Garnet and Black World Series Ends With Walk-Off
Brennan Milone's RBI double with no out in the bottom of the seventh capped a four-run rally as the Black team walked off the Garnet team, 4-3, in game one of the 2020 Garnet and Black World Series Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 27) at Founders Park.
Garnet took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but Michael Robinson and Noah Myers worked walks to open the frame. Andrew Eyster brought both runners in with a double to the gap in right. Wes Clarke tied the game with a double off the wall in center and Milone ended it with a double to left, scoring Clarke and giving the Black team the walk-off win.
Garnet scored single runs in the second and third frames. Connor Cino's RBI groundout plated Brady Allen in the second. Jack Mahoney then belted a solo home run to the visitor's bullpen to give Garnet a 2-0 lead. Garnet added a run in the sixth as Brandon Fields scored on a wild pitch.
Eyster had two hits and drove in a pair to pace the Black offense.
Julian Bosnic struck out six for Team Garnet in a four-inning start. He allowed three hits with no runs and two walks. Andrew Peters started for the Black team and allowed two runs on just one hit with a pair of strikeouts and four walks. RJ Dantin earned the win for Team Black in relief, while Daniel Lloyd was tagged with the loss.
The two teams will meet for Game 2 on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 29) at 3 p.m. at Founders Park. Fans can follow the action with a stream on Facebook Live
