When South Carolina came into their regional championship game against Campbell on Sunday night, they hadn't fallen behind at any point throughout the weekend. Campbell would end that streak early in the Regional title game, as Logan Jordan hit a two-run homer to give the Camels the early lead. That lead, however, would not only be short-lived, but it would be the only time the Gamecocks trailed all night, as Carolina went on to win in blowout fashion, 16-7.

The scoring would start in the top of the second inning when Cole Messina and Talmadge LeCroy reached base via a throwing error and a hit-by-pitch, respectively. LeCroy would eventually advance to third off a wild pitch and would score as a part of an RBI single by Michael Braswell, which was followed up by another swinging bunt by Dylan Brewer, which scored Gavin Casas.

In the third inning, the Gamecocks would unleash the full brunt of their offensive firepower on Campbell's pitching staff, scoring seven runs on nine hits via five singles, two doubles, two Camel errors, and a two-run homer hit by Will McGillis. South Carolina never looked back from that inning onward, scoring another seven runs throughout the rest of the contest.

What was impressive about the Gamecocks' victory over Campbell is that South Carolina didn't score most of their runs via the long ball. Mark Kingston's squad is showing the plate discipline they had the first two-thirds of the regular season, drawing seven walks from the Camels and saw batters get hit by a pitch on three other occasions.

On the pitching side of things, Matthew Becker did not have his best outing, giving up five runs in three innings, all of those runs coming courtesy of two separate Logan Jordan homers. After a four-pitch walk in the fourth inning, Becker was pulled for Nick Proctor, who gave up just two runs over the next three innings in the game. Will Sanders then entered the game in the seventh inning and pitched scoreless baseball in the final three innings, striking out six Campbell batters, with most of them coming through his wicked slider.

South Carolina will now face the winner of a winner-take-all game between Florida and Texas Tech on Monday. If Florida wins, the Gamecocks will travel to Gainesville next weekend, but if Texas Tech wins, Carolina will be hosting in the Super Regional round.
