South Carolina's Baseball team is getting ready to square off against the No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers in a three-game series that begins later this evening, but as far as national prognosticators are concerned, the Gamecocks have already done enough at this point to be considered one of the best teams in the country. Mark Kingston's squad has toppled every weekend opponent that's been put in front of them, and while the road will get more treacherous from here on out, their dominance throughout the first 30 games of the season shouldn't be forgotten.

D1Baseball.com is clearly one national college baseball outlet that falls in line with the aforementioned belief surrounding the Gamecocks, as they named South Carolina their No. 6 overall national seed in their initial projections of what the Field of 64 could look like for the NCAA Regionals in the postseason. This means that if the season ended right now, the Gamecocks' resumé would be strong enough to not just host a regional as a Top 16 overall seed, but also a Super regional as a Top 8 seed.

Based on D1Baseball.com's current projections, the Gamecocks would host regional schools like NC State, Wofford and Davidson in their pod of sorts, and would be paired with the Lexington, KY regional which would be hosted by a fellow SEC counterpart in the Kentucky Wildcats. Obviously, there's a lot more baseball to be played before these projections become reality, but as of this moment, the Gamecocks should feel good about where they currently stand in the national spotlight.
