Gamecocks' Trio Spearheads Charge into Final Four

As the South Carolina Gamecocks advance into the pivotal stage of the postseason, we put out an opinionated article from March 7th. The three pivotal players for Dawn Staley's staff heading into post season play and have become the fulcrum on which the Gamecocks' fortune has pivoted.

Kamilla Cardoso, dubbed as 'The Leader,' has embodied the essence of dominance, reinforcing the sentiment that a supreme Cardoso is synonymous with a supreme South Carolina. Averaging 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game during the postseason, Cardoso has been the embodiment of reliability. Her ability to be the "go-to" player when the game hangs in the balance has been impressive and a cornerstone of the Gamecocks' success.

Te-Hina Paopao, the 'Playmaker,' has been instrumental in stretching defenses thin with her sharpshooting prowess. Despite a hiccup against the Beavers, Paopao's has shot over 50% from beyond the arc. Her contributions in creating spacing have been invaluable, allowing the Gamecocks' offense to operate with a level of fluidity and dynamism that is difficult to counter.

Raven Johnson, the 'X Factor,' has lived up to the moniker in more ways than one. Defense, often her calling card, has been exemplary, with an impressive tally of 10 steals. However, it is her offensive contributions that have caught the eye. Scoring a clutch three-pointer against Indiana and accumulating a crucial 14 points, Johnson has also been a maestro with 18 assists, showcasing her ability to create for herself and her teammates.

While these three have been the team's strategy pillars, it would be remiss not to acknowledge Ashlyn Watkins and Tessa Johnson's significant contributions. Both players have added depth and versatility to the roster, stepping up when called upon and providing the Gamecocks with additional firepower.

As the final four looms, the South Carolina Gamecocks march on, buoyed by the performances of their crucial trio. The path to success is always walked with others, and the team's collective efforts have been evident. However, the stars navigate the course, and Cardoso, Paopao, and Johnson have proven to be celestial guides for a Gamecocks team with its sights set on the ultimate prize.
