Lamont Paris Gives An Injury Update On Myles Stute
The South Carolina Gamecocks have vastly exceeded the expectations that were placed on them before the 2023-24 season began. Coming off of an 11-win season last Winter and losing GG Jackson and Hayden Brown during the offseason, the SEC media projected that Lamont Paris' squad would finish dead last in the league. As of today, the Gamecocks are tied for fourth place in the conference, currently possessing a 4-2 record in SEC play.
What's made their recent run even more impressive, outside of their dominant wins over notable programs, is that the team's managed well without starting wing Myles Stute. Of course, adding the Washington, D.C. native back into the fold would give Carolina a more substantial boost in terms of perimeter shooting and overall experience.
During his Carolina Calls radio show on Thursday night, Lamont gave the latest on Stute and his recovery process after the junior suffered a shoulder injury against Georgia nine days ago.
"Myles is making steady progress," Paris stated. "We practiced today, and he was out on the court doing some non-contact stuff, just passing the ball. He was doing a shooting workout on the side; the injury's actually on his non-shooting shoulder, so that helps him a little bit - Any physical jarring of the shoulder is what we're trying to see to make sure he's strong enough that it just doesn't happen again," Lamont explained. "He's still a little ways away. I don't want to rush it."
