At the start of the season, Meechie Johnson was the best scorer on the roster. He put up 15 or more points in 10 of the first fourteen games. While he's still the average leading scorer on the team, since the overtime win at Missouri, Johnson's shot has been colder more often. However, he hasn't let that affect the rest of the team and how he affects the game.

Meechie played at a high level at the beginning of the year, and while he's doing well, just in a different aspect, he's changed his game and hasn't complained; and just worked. From shooting the ball roughly 15-plus times per game, he now lets the game come to him and involves his teammates while trying to find his mojo again.

Johnson has had 31 total assists since the Missouri game and 22 total made shots. While in no way are we saying Meechie Johnson should sit back, he's understood to continue to allow the team to play at the highest level. He needs to impact the game differently, and he has. Moving forward, history tells you talented scores like Johnson don't stay down forever, and when he finds his groove back, it will only make the Gamecocks that much better with the continued growth of players like Collin Murray-Boyles and Ta'Lon Cooper and others.
