South Carolina's Chloe Kitts' Beginning To Adjust To SEC Play
Over the past couple of weeks, sophomore forward Ashlyn Watkins has received the most attention out of the frontcourt for South Carolina's women's basketball team, and for good reason, as her play on both ends could make her the runaway favorite for the SEC's 6th Woman of the Year award. Combine that with the presence that center Kamilla Cardoso brings to the floor, from a length and statistical standpoint, and it becomes easy to forget about some of the other players who fit a crucial role for the No. 1 Gamecocks.
Chloe Kitts reminded everyone in the second half versus the Georgia Bulldogs yesterday afternoon why she shouldn't be brushed to the side in the eyes of basketball pundits, scoring 10 of her 12 total points and grabbing 6 of her 7 total rebounds in the final 20 minutes of the contest. Kitts was arguably the best Carolina frontcourt player at finishing through contact offensively, and her double-digit point outing was her third out of her last four appearances, the first time she has accomplished this feat since conference play began.
Chloe was asked about her aggressive play after the game when she and MiLaysia Fulwiley met with the media, who were present, and indicated that she feels that as long as she trusts the process, the desired results will follow suit.
"For me, it's just physically my body. I'm just trying to get my body right, bigger, and stronger. These girls are pretty big, so I just know I need to keep lifting, you know, eating and then just playing hard and the rest will come play."
Chloe will look to continue displaying her progression when South Carolina takes on Alabama on Thursday night, looking to clinch the SEC Regular Season Title (LSU's Monday night result pending).
