BREAKING: 2025 In-State Safety Damarcus Leach Commits To South Carolina
With Spring football beginning to wind down, recruiting is beginning to heat back up for Shane Beamer and South Carolina's football program. Coming into the week with just one verbal commit in the 2025 recruiting cycle in in-state wide receiver Jayden Sellers, the younger brother of current Gamecock quarterback LaNorris Sellers, Beamer has now landed two more commits in the past 24 hours. One was revealed on Tuesday afternoon from four-star wide receiver Brian Rowe, and the other went public just minutes ago as three-star safety prospect and Palmetto State native Damarcus Leach announced his pledge on X, making him the first defensive commit for Beamer & Co. in this cycle.
Leach is rated as the 46th-best safety prospect in the country per On3 Sports' Industry Player Rankings, the 658th-best prospect in the country and the 11th-best prospect out of South Carolina for his class. The Gamecocks landed the rising high school senior over programs like Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Duke and Cincinnati.
