WR Antwane Wells Jr. Announces He’s Returning For 2024 Season
Antwane Wells Jr., the 2023 preseason All-SEC and All-American selection and a potential Biletnikoff award candidate, had his 2023 season cut short due to injury, only playing in three games. He made two catches for 32 yards and scored a touchdown against the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs on the road in week three.
Juice Wells, as he's known, garnered a lot of hype after an impressive 2022 campaign, and was expected to be a top NFL Draft pick in 2024. Unfortunately, he got injured, but on Monday night, the senior wideout announced his intentions to come back to South Carolina next season.
Gamecock fans are excited about the possibilities of Juice Wells joining forces with the highly anticipated freshman QB LaNorris Sellers. Sellers was ranked as the No. 10 QB in the 2023 recruiting class by On3 Sports and has everyone talking about his potential to be an all-time great in this program. Fans got a glimpse of his skills in limited action this year.
Juice's announcement helps to solidify Carolina's wide receiver room for next Fall, featuring guys like Nyck Harbor, incoming freshman Mazeo Bennett, O'Mega Blake, Elijah Caldwell, Tyshawn Russell, and plenty others. This is huge news for the Gamecocks because they'll need playmakers for LaNorris to have a successful year. The combination of Juice Wells', the talented freshman QB, and the deep WR roster has fans hopeful for an exciting and victorious season ahead.
