Wednesday afternoon, a couple of players had the chance to speak to the media as the Gamecocks prepare for the upcoming season and for the spring game on April 20th. One of the first players to meet with the press was Linebacker Debo Williams, who explained his last spring practice with the gamecocks was going well, saying:

"It's been going really good, a lot of us, especially the defense is coming back so we just really taking stuff to the next level, were not just doing the simple plays we might have learned the first year or second year. were just taking it to the next level and just everyone is improving, sharping their iron."

Willimas spoke highly of Georgia Tech transfer Kyle Kennard, showing how hardworking he is and how he's stepping up and being a leader in that room. Kennard also could talk with the media and was asked what the process of coming in and trying to be a leader without stepping on any toes has been like:

Which is a testament of the guys that's already been here, it's been nothing like stepping on toes... It's been no type of animosity; it's just been you come in and i make them better and they make me better and were going to mesh together so come august when it's time to play ODU and every other team were on the same page.

Nick Emmanwori joined in as well and spoke briefly. And is looking to keep finding ways to get ahead. He was asked what he learned from last year heading into his third season:

The biggest thing I learned is probably you never really get a grasp of the game until you actually playing a lot. because last year that was my first spring, and this is my second spring now... I thought I had things down pat, but I really didn't never really think you have it and just keep staying with an open mindset and keep trying to find things to get better at.

Senior Defensive tackle Alex Huntley is having fun during spring practice and seeing things that are encouraging to see and states everyone is grinding:

Every position right now everyone is just competing, everyone wants to play, everyone wants to make plays. there aren't any guys just sitting in the back and letting time pass by.
