REPORT: Gamecock LB Donovan Westmoreland Expected To Enter Transfer Portal
While the first transfer portal window for the 2023-24 cycle won't officially begin until this next Sunday, a plethora of college football players have already made their intentions clear about their future plans. South Carolina is one team that's expected to be heavily active in the portal and will likely lose their own share of players as well.
That process seems to have already begun, as 247Sports National College Football reporter Matt Zenitz posted on X on Monday afternoon that South Carolina linebacker/edge rusher Donovan Westmoreland is expected to enter the transfer portal.
Westmoreland was considered to be the 44th best linebacker prospect in the country in the 2022 class by On3's consensus player rankings. After playing in seven total games primarily on special teams in his true freshman campaign, Donovan played in only two games this Fall, as he was moved to the edge rusher position and never seemed to be able to carve out a role for himself like he was able to the previous season. The redshirt sophomore out of Georgia would officially become the first Gamecock to enter the transfer portal when the move takes place.
