Former Gamecock Wideout Signed to Texans Practice Squad

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, former South Carolina wide receiver Damiere Byrd will be signed to the Texans practice squad due to an injury. Damiere Byrd had a relatively successful couple of years as a Gamecock, where he accounted for 893 yards receiving and seven touchdowns on 53 receptions. His best game as a gamecock was his junior season, where he scored 121 yards on four receptions against Tennessee.
With Noah Brown going on Injured Reserve with a shoulder issue, the #Texans signed veteran WR Damiere Byrd to the practice squad.

Since Byrd went undrafted in the 2014 draft and got signed by the Carolina Panthers, he's been a part of 5 different teams and has two trips to the Panthers and the Falcons. Byrd has been a part of either of those team's practice squads this past season and is now heading to the Texans with an injury to Noah Brown.
While it isn't a foregone conclusion that Byrd will get the chance to make the active roster, he will have the opportunity to earn that right. The Texans are having a surprising season under rookie quarterback CJ Stroud and need to add some depth to the roster and practice squad.
