South Carolina has landed a commitment from Ole Miss transfer Jaron Willis, who will have four years of eligibility. The 6-foot-2 linebacker is from Leesburg, Georgia, was a top 200 recruit in the class of 2022, and is an old high school teammate of a few current Gamecocks in running back Juju McDowell and defensive back Jammie Robinson.

Going back to Willis's recruitment, he was a 4-star prospect with offers from schools like Florida State, Georgia Tech, Florida, Arkansas, and others.

South Carolina went for Willis under the old football staff with a Lee County to South Carolina movement. They went after Willis and his high school teammate Qae'shon Sapp and were selling them on the chance to play with their former teammates.

With that pitch, many had South Carolina as the top school for both. However, after Jammie Robinson transferred to Florida State, South Carolina fell out of it for Willis, who committed to Georgia Tech and flipped to Ole Miss on national signing day.

The Gamecocks have now added their first defensive transfer of the class. They already signed tight ends Trey Knox, Nick Eksnis, and Joshua Simon. South Carolina also signed former Yale offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo.
