Lonnie Teasley Set to Become Permanent OL Coach
What was a temporary change during the 2022 season has now become a permanent change as Offensive Analyst Lonnie Teasley has been promoted to permanent Offensive Line Coach. Teasley began the 2022 season with the Gamecocks as an offensive analyst.
He served as the Gamecocks' interim offensive line coach for most of the season because of Greg Adkins' frequent absence from the team due to a medical issue. Teasley's new contract is a two-year deal worth $410 thousand each year.
Before coming to South Carolina, Teasley served as an offensive line coach at North Carolina Central University. He has coached high school and college football for over 14 years at various schools, including Tennessee Tech, Delaware State, and Temple. Before coming into coaching, Teasley played offensive line at Hofstra University and Winston-Salem State University.
Teasley's transition to interim offensive line coach was smooth, and he received praise for his impromptu work with the line this season, so it is no surprise that he is set to receive the promotion. Teasley has already been handling the responsibility of meeting with offensive line recruits and transfers. Even though Teasley is replacing Adkins as offensive line coach, Adkins is expected to continue working with South Carolina as an analyst.
