As of this very moment, the South Carolina Gamecocks are expected to soon gain an official commitment from Arkansas running back Raheim “Rocket” Sanders, considered one of the best running backs in college football. Sources recently told Gamecock Digest that the Gamecocks put themselves in a good position with Sanders after his visit this past weekend

Raheim would address a great position of need for the Gamecocks and a welcome sight following the recent news of Mario Anderson Jr. transferring out of the program. Paired with the addition of North Texas' Oscar Adaway III on Tuesday night, the Gamecocks have undoubtably upgraded at the position overall.

Sanders ran for 1,443 yards and had 10 rushing touchdowns in a banner 2022 season that saw him earn First-team All-SEC honors. Dealing with injuries, he ran for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2023. His career numbers are impressive: 2,230 yards, 17 touchdowns, an average of 5.6 yards per carry, with 455 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in just three years with Arkansas.

Raheim’s connections with the Gamecock staff played a significant role in his recruitment. He initially picked Arkansas over the Gamecocks out of high school, committing to current Gamecock wide receivers coach Justin Stepp. Stepp moved from Arkansas to Carolina in 2021, and Gamecock offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains served as Arkansas's TE coach from 2021 to 2022.
