Where Bowl Projections Currently Have South Carolina
I know, I know. There hasn't been a single snap that's taken place yet in a live FBS football game for the 2023 season, so why are we talking about bowl projections in mid-August? Well, while these projections are anything but final and likely will be far from accurate come December, these projections give us a good idea of how people view South Carolina heading into this Fall.
Suppose South Carolina makes it to a more prestigious bowl like they did this past Winter regarding the Gator Bowl. In that case, they'll have to navigate a brutal 2023 schedule that includes five Top 25 opponents, with the Gamecocks playing four of those opponents away from Williams-Brice Stadium. In terms of their bowl history, Carolina has played in 29 postseason contests, winning only ten games, but each of those wins have come in their last seventeen bowl appearances.
South Carolina has made five appearances in the Gator Bowl and what's now known as the Reliaquest Bowl, the most out of any bowl games currently in existence. The Gamecocks have made it to fourteen bowl games since the start of the 2005 season, missing postseason play in 2007, 2015, 2019, and 2020.
When looking at current bowl projections, where do the pundits have South Carolina going?
