REPORT: Shane Beamer Expected To Hire Veteran SEC Assistant Coach
Just six days ago, it was announced that Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks were parting ways with running backs coach Montario Hardesty, indicating that the head man was indeed going to make some adjustments to his coaching staff. Per a late night report from 247Sports' Matt Zenitz, the wheels are in motion for more potential moves, as South Carolina is expected to hire James Coley as an offensive assistant.
Coley has spent the last three seasons as Texas A&M's tight ends coach, and before that was an assistant at Georgia fro 2016-19, with him being the primary offensive playcaller in his last season with the Bulldogs. Beamer was on Kirby Smart's staff in 2016 and 2017, thus the connection with Coley. With James having never been a running back coach in his career, but possessing a plethora of experience as a tight ends coach, one could assume that something may happen with Jody Wright in the coming days. We'll see what's officially announced by the athletic department when they believe the timing is right.
