ICYMI: Former Gamecock Linebacker Breaks Los Angeles Rams' Single Season Record
Former South Carolina Gamecock and linebacker Ernest Jones was drafted in the third round by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since then, he's done everything asked of him and earned the respect of his teammates, to the point where he was named a team captain before the start of the 2023 season this past Summer.
Being named a captain of course doesn't just heighten expectations in terms of how you represent your teammates, coaches, or the franchise, but it also means that your on-field performance must match your newfound role. Ernest has done just that this season, and last weekend broke the Rams' single-season record for total tackles in a season, with the previous mark of 142 being held by James Laurinaitis since 2012.
With Los Angeles' recent win over the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers win over the Seattle Seahawks, Jones and the Rams will be back in the playoffs after missing out on postseason play entirely in 2022.
