Early Betting Odds: South Carolina Vs. Kentucky
After a brutal three-week stretch that saw Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks blow a 10-point fourth quarter to Florida and come up short against Missouri and Texas A&M on the road, the team got a slight reprieve in competition over the past two weeks facing foes like Jacksonville State and Vanderbilt. Now, the difficulty ratchets back up rather quickly. Carolina is set to take on a Kentucky Wildcats squad that, while having lost four of their last five games, has talented players and coaches that could pose problems for the Gamecocks.
The oddsmakers in Vegas seem to agree with that notion, as the opening spreads on this matchup vary from a pure toss-up to favoring the Cats ever so slightly:
FanDuel: Gamecocks listed as 3-point underdogs
DraftKings: Gamecocks listed as 1.5-point underdogs
Circa Sports: Game listed as a Pick 'em
With home-field advantage being baked in, sportsbooks seem to view Kentucky as a slightly better team than South Carolina. However, with momentum currently on the Gamecocks side, Darude (original creator of the song Sandstorm) coming to Columbia, and the game taking place at night in Williams-Brice, there's no doubt that Beamer's team can find a way to get a win, putting their postseason hopes on the line in the Palmetto Bowl against the Clemson Tigers on Thanksgiving weekend.
