The South Carolina Gamecocks entered today's game looking to string together consecutive wins for the first time since weeks twelve and thirteen of last season when they defeated the Tennessee Volunteers and Clemson Tigers in back-to-back weeks. While their were some ugly moments at times, Shane Beamer's squad did enough in all three phases to secure their biggest win of the season from a point differential standpoint, defeating Vanderbilt ____.

The offense has been powered by their explosive plays all season long, and that was the case once again on Saturday, as they recorded plays of 72, 39, 30, and 24 (two times) yards. Spencer Rattler was able to sit back in the pocket all day against the Commodores, rarely having to scamper out of the pocket to extend plays. With the amount of zone coverage Vandy ran defensively, it allowed multiple Gamecock wideouts to find green grass, especially Xavier Legette and Joshua Simon, who account for 185 of Rattler's 351 passing yards on the day.

Defensively, this was by the far the best all-around performance Carolina has had all season, as they didn't allow a single score until the very first play of the fourth quarter. The Gamecocks were extremely active today in pass defense, deflecting eight of Ken Seals passes, and nearly picking off several of them at that. The only blemish for Carolina's defense coming out of this game is their second half rush defense, as they allowed over 100 yards on the ground after giving up just 22 in the first half.

Overall, it's a solid win for Beamer and this team, as they didn't mess around with an opponent who was clearly outmatched today. They move to 4-6 on the season, and are set to take on the Kentucky Wildcats in Williams-Brice next Saturday night.
