Three Offensive Players To Watch: Furman
The Gamecocks look forward to being back home against Furman’s football team on Saturday night, which has a lineup of offensive players that they’ll have to account for in this matchup. Not only do they have the potential to be a handful for the Gamecocks’ defense, but they’re also a very experienced group. Here are three players to watch out for:
QB Tyler Huff
The dynamic quarterback could be a game-changer for the Paladins on Saturday night. Throwing the football for 2200 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022, Huff has proved to be a potent threat with the ball in his hands. His strengths, however, do not stop at his throwing ability, as Tyler is also an accomplished rusher, racking up 691 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground last season. The Gamecocks’ linebacker core will have to maintain strong eye discipline in week two, as they must account for both Huff’s arm and his legs.
WR Kyndel Dean
Wide receiver Kyndel Dean is another player to look out for. Beginning his fifth year of college football, Dean has consistently averaged thirteen yards per catch or better in three out of four years at this level. With a height of 6’1”, he can make plays and be a reliable target for his quarterback. His size and consistency will make him a critical player that this young secondary will have to account for.
RB Dominic Roberto
Dominic Roberto is another seasoned veteran for the Furman Paladins. Heading into his fifth season, Roberto has proven his value as a running back, as he crossed the 1100-yard mark on the ground last season, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. His versatility, however, doesn’t end there. Roberto has also displayed his skills as a receiving threat out of the backfield, making him a dual threat that this Gamecock defense must keep an eye on, whether it’s a run or passing play.
These three players are poised to impact the game this Saturday night to a significant degree. Their talent, unique skill sets, and experience will be critical factors in Furman’s offensive strategy and provide a multifaceted challenge for South Carolina’s defense. So be sure to take note of these players as you watch the game.
