BREAKING: Kamilla Cardoso Gets Drafted In First Round Of WNBA Draft
Years ago, Kamilla Cardoso left her home country of Brazil to come to the United States to realize her dream of becoming a professional basketball player. Those dreams officially turned into a reality tonight, as Cardoso was drafted No. 3 overall by the Chicago Sky. Cardoso becomes the fourth player in the past two seasons to be drafted in the first round, joining Aliyah Boston, Laeticia Amihere, and Zia Cooke from last year's draft class. Kamilla also becomes the fourth frontcourt player in program history to be drafted within the first top three picks, joining Boston once again, along with WNBA MVP and Champion A'ja Wilson and Alaina Coates, who was a part of the Gamecocks' 2017 national championship-winning team. The Sky went 18-22 last season and own the rights to the No. 7 overall pick, where they're projected to pick LSU forward Angel Reese per ESPN's final mock draft.
