Early National Signing Day Capsule: David Bucey
South Carolina signed box safety David Bucey, who committed to the Gamecocks on June 26th. He is an athletic defensive player who can lineup at linebacker and quick enough to line up at safety for the gamecocks as well. Bucey will add some good depth to the Safety room who already has a talented box safety in Nick Emmanwori.
Prospect: David Bucey
School: Savannah Christian Prep (Savannah, GA)
Projected Position: Safety
Size: 6-1 and 200 lbs.
Athleticism: Bucey has the athleticism to line up in the box and attack running lanes and gaps or step back and defend as a safety. Has the lateral quickness and instincts to play either roll.
Instincts: His ability to run and close down space both from the box and in the secondary will be an added benefit for this defense
Bottom Line: David Bucey will primarily line up at safety and be able to assist in the running game. A hard hitter that isn't afraid to get down into the box and hit anyone but also athletic enough to defend in the secondary
