Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks have been the preeminent program in women's college basketball over the past five years, finishing the Covid-shortened season as the No. 1 ranked team in the country, appearing in three straight Final Fours and winning a national title in 2022. That success on the court has led to success off the court, as the program continues to bring in McDonald All-Americans in every recruiting cycle.

In the 2024 class, Staley and Carolina already have landed the No. 2 prospect in the country according to ESPN HoopGurlz player rankings, five-star forward Joyce Edwards, along with the No. 11 and No. 26 players in point guard Madisen McDaniel and post player Adhel Tac. It appears though that the Gamecocks aren't done yet pursuing some of the nation's top talent, as the women's basketball media account 94 Feet WBB reported on Friday night that Dawn and her assistants were in North Carolina to watch the No. 1 player in the country in Grace Christian Sanford forward Sarah Strong.

If the Gamecocks can land Strong, it would be the third time in school history that the program has landed 4 five-stars in one cycle and the second time in program history that the team has landed the No. 1 recruit in the country, with the other one being A'ja Wilson back in the 2014 class.
