Early National Signing Day Capsule: Dylan Stewart
South Carolina will welcome Dylan Stewart, who shocked most of the college football world when he committed to the Gamecocks over Ohio State on August 1st of this year. Stewart will bring elite athleticism out on the edge for South Carolina's defense and will be the first five-star defensive player since Zacch Pickens back in the 2019 class.
Prospect: Dylan Stewart
School: Friendship Collegiate Academy (Washington, DC)
Projected Position: Edge Rusher
Size: 6-5 and 235 lbs.
Athleticism: First step and bend are extremely important for successful edge rushers, and Stewart possesses both. There is still room for improvement, but I will quickly be able to see some playing time as a freshman.
Instincts: Stewart does a great job of identifying pass to run and vice versa. He can shoot the correct gaps and even shows some impressive closing speed coming from the backside of the play.
Bottom Line: Dylan Stewart will be able to make an impact early on as a freshman, even with some of the talented portal players that have been brought in. Some aspects still need to improve, but they can get after the quarterback very well with great speed.
