Braylen Russell Releases Top 3 Schools, Announces Commitment Date
As we get further into July, numerous athletes in the class of 2024 will be gearing up to make their college decisions. This is the case for four-star running back Braylen Russell, who is gearing up to make a decision of his own. Thursday afternoon, Russell announced on Twitter that he was down to three schools in his recruitment; South Carolina, Arkansas, and Tennessee.
Russell will decide between these three schools on July 14th at 6:30 p.m. CT. Being ranked as the 22nd-best running back in the nation, according to On3, Russell has garnered immense interest from South Carolina, which is looking to round out its running back room for the class of 2024. The Gamecocks have already secured a running back in the class with Georgia native Matthew Fuller.
South Carolina is highly anticipating Russell's decision, and it is clear why. Few ball-carriers in the class of 2024 tout a more versatile skillset than Russell. His speed and shiftiness look college ready, a mark many rising seniors in high school are years away from achieving. He also possesses a big 225-pound frame and is not scared to drop a shoulder and run over a defender.
Russell's official visit to South Carolina back on the weekend of June 2nd through the 4th was the Arkansas native's first chance to see what life could be like playing for South Carolina's football program. We'll find out soon enough whether Shane Beamer and his staff did enough to convince the big-time back to come to Columbia.
