South Carolina Quarterback Commit Transferring High Schools
Amidst all of the craziness surrounding South Carolina's recent stretch of recruiting madness, a bit of news broke Saturday surrounding an already committed Gamecock, Dante Reno. The first player to commit to the Gamecocks for the 2023 class has announced he will be transferring high schools ahead of his senior school, Reno confirmed to Gamecocks Digest.
The quarterback previously played at the Loomis Chaffee School which is located in Windsor, Connecticut. However, Reno will be playing for Chesire Academy, located in Chesire. Reno will be joined by twins Jacob and Jerod Smith, both four-stars ranked first and third in the state of Connecticut respectively.
Reno, ranked fourth in Connecticut by 247 sports, said that the transfer was due to Loomis Chaffee not allowing students to graduate early. Transferring to Chesire allows Reno and his teammates to graduate early and get on college campuses during the spring semester. South Carolina is awaiting the arrival of the 2024 quarterback who is expected to have a big impact with the Gamecocks.
