Louisville's talented wide receiver, Ahmari Huggins-Bruce, and former standout from Dillon High School, is making a significant move by returning home to play for the Gamecocks. Standing at 5 feet 10 inches, he has proven himself with 80 catches, 1,121 yards, and 10 touchdowns throughout his career, contributing as a reliable rotation receiver during his three solid years with the Cardinals.

Breaking down his stats at Louisville, Ahmari showcased consistent growth:

  • Freshman Year (2021): 29 receptions, 444 yards, 4 touchdowns
  • Sophomore Year (2022): 31 receptions, 365 yards, 2 touchdowns
  • Junior Year (2023): 20 receptions, 312 yards, 4 touchdowns

One notable achievement is his breaking of the school record for the longest reception at an impressive 95 yards. Additionally, Ahmari holds the record for the most yards in a game by a freshman in Louisville history, amassing over 150 yards in a single game.

Justin Stepp made a strategic move in securing Ahmari for the Gamecocks, especially with the recent departure of Jayden McGowan and his commitment to BC. Justin had previously recruited Ahmari out of high school during his time at Arkansas, making him a top priority. Notably, Ahmari was part of the trio, along with J.J. Jones and Joshua Burrell, considered the top three receivers in South Carolina's 2021 class. Justin tried to get all 3 of them to Arkansas along with Virginia Tech. at the time the Gamecocks had only offered J.J

Now, after three years, Ahmari gets the chance to represent his home state under the coaching of Shane Beamer and Justin Stepp. This opportunity is significant for both him and the Gamecocks, addressing the need for additional talent in the wide receiver room. It's a key acquisition that aligns with the team's goals and adds depth to their offensive lineup.
