South Carolina Football Roster Breakdown: Wide Receivers

The season is nearly here which means it's time to take a look at position groups on the Gamecocks roster. The wide receiver position has star power and high potential, but it's a room that must prove the production on the field. We break down the wide receivers and where things stand just under four weeks away from kickoff against Kent State.

Headlined by former five star wide out Nyck Harbor, the wide receiver room at South Carolina may be one of the better units on the roster. The room is a mixed bag of experience, potential, and transfers. Shane Beamer brings in Kendal Briles from TCU to set up a more pass catcher friendly offense. If the Gamecocks find a way to have one of the better units in the conference, it will likely start with the success of their star senior.

Nyck Harbor

Fresh off a career year in 2025, Harbor returns for one final season to show Gamecock fans and NFL scouts that he belongs in the "best in the country" conversation. For the second season in a row Harbor received praise from the Athletic's Bruce Feldman, who placed Harbor at the number one spot in his "Freak List." At 6-foot-5 and nearly 245 pounds with legit Olympic level track speed, Harbor has rare physical tools that can help him become one of the best in the country.

Last season , Harbor caught 30 passes for 618 yards and six touchdowns. He has the abilities to thrive in Briles' offensive system. Should he be unlocked, Harbor could instill fear in opposing defensive coordinators and secondaries.

Jayden Sellers

The younger brother of South Carolina's star quarterback, Sellers came into his own as the season came to an end. In the second half of last season, Sellers flashed his potential with with 22 catches for 337 yards and a touchdown. This offseason he has done the work to get more on field time in 2026 and his teammates are beginning to notice.

"He's putting in the extra work. Anytime I'm with Nyck {Harbor} or those guys throwing after, or watching film after, he's always there," Gamecocks QB LaNorris Sellers said at SEC Media Days.

Nitro Tuggle is the most intriguing transfer wideout the Gamecocks brought in during the offseason, and no it's not because of a great football name. Tuggle offers big potential just waiting to be unlocked. At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Tuggle began his college career with the University of Georgia in 2024. He was limited to eight games and 34 yards for the Bulldogs that season. In 2025, he transfers to Perdue and began to show flashes of what he could do.

He caught 34 passes for 500 yards, averaging 14.7 yards per reception, with four touchdowns. Tuggle is a good route runner with a wide catch radius. Tuggle and Harbor could team up to provide a devastating duo for opposing defenders this season.

Beamer and wide receivers coach Mike Furrey also brought in former UCF Golden Knight DJ Black, former Oklahoma Sooner Jayden Gibson, and former Holy Cross Crusader Charly Mullaly to fill out the room. Black and Gibson offer upside, but may be best suited for depth roles in 2026.

Wild Card

My wild card for this season is Mazeo Bennett Jr. After finishing third on the team in receiving yards as a true freshman in 2024, Bennett Jr. did not see the same success as a true sophomore. When on the field, he has shown the capability to be a good route runner with trusted hands. If he can get back to his true freshman form, it can give the Gamecocks offense four receivers to count on all year long.

Donovan Murph, Jordon Gidron, and Malik Clark will also be fighting for playing time next fall. As a whole the room has what you want in a modern wide receiver unit, high potential with trusted depth. Should South Carolina hit on that potential, they could very well push for a top half of the SEC offense in 2026.
