South Carolina Gamecocks vs Ole Miss: Live Updates and Scores
Week five is host to many great games throughout the country, but one may be a conference title eliminator already in the beginning of October. South Carolina (3-1) and Ole Miss (3-1) are preparing for a heavyweight fight which has big ramifications inside the SEC.
The battle between the Gamecocks and Rebels kicks off at 3:30 pm (ET) live on ESPN. Both teams come into Columbia relatively healthy, despite Ole Miss losing a premier pass rusher. Look below for live scoring and drive updates throughout the game.
First Quarter:
Kickoff: South Carolina has won the toss and has chosen to defer. Ole Miss begins with the ball on offense.
(0-0): Ole Miss begins the drive at the 25-yard line. A holding penalty sets the Rebels back. Quick three and out.
(0-0): South Carolina gets the ball for their first drive. After a quick three plays, Carolina attempts a fake punt and gets stuffed.
(7-0): Ole Miss gets the ball on the South Carolina 36-yard line. A quick 5 play drive ends with Rebels RB Henry Parrish Jr. finding the endzone on a three yard rushing touchdown.
(7-0): South Carolina starts with the ball on the 25-yard line. Sellers completes a pass to TE Joshua Simon for 17 yards. Defensive pass interference moves the ball into plus territory for the Gamecocks. Sellers fumbles the QB keeper. Rebels ball.
(14-0): Rebels begin their drive on the 41-yard line after the Gamecocks turnover. First play of the drive QB Jaxson Dart finds Antwane Wells Jr. on a 29-yard completion. Rebels DT JJ Pegues scores on a 1-yard rushing TD. Back to back scoring drives for Ole Miss.
(14-0): Gamecocks start with the ball on their own 25-yard. Three and out leads to a Gamecocks punt.
(14-0): Ole Miss starts the drive on their own- 21-yard line. South Carolina defense stands tall. Ole Miss punts.
(14-0): South Carolina begins at the their own 27-yard line. Gamecocks get the ground game going on this drive. End of first quarter.
Second Quarter:
(14-0): Sellers gets sacked on a fourth down play. Ole Miss ball.
(14-0): South Carolina defense gets a fourth down stop of their own. Gets the ball back to their offense.
(14-3): Gamecocks get a field goal set up by a big run by Sellers.
(17-3): Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart finds WR Tre Harris for a 59-yard gain to set inside the Gamecock's 5-yard line. A goal line stand by the South Carolina defense holds Ole Miss to a field goal.
(17-3): Gamecocks had a first down called back on offensive pass interference. The penalty was too much to overcome. South Carolina punts.
(24-3): Ole Miss drives the field and scores off a JJ Pegues second rushing touchdown.
(24-3): Sellers gets sacked. End of first half.
Third Quarter:
(24-3): South Carolina gets the ball to start the second half. Drives all the way to the Ole Miss 20-yard line before getting stopped on fourth down.
(24-3): Ole Miss WR Antwane Wells Jr. fumbles the ball through the end zone leading to a touchback. South Carolina ball.
(24-3): Gamecocks fail to score. Ole Miss ball.
(27-3): Ole Miss drives the ball into South Carolina territory and ends with a field goal.
(27-3): South Carolina driving. End of the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter:
(27-3): Sellers throws an interception at the goal line. Ole Miss ball.
(27-3): The South Carolina defense stands strong. Punt.
(27-3): South Carolina stopped on downs. Ole Miss ball.
