After going on a win streak that lasted five games, the Cardinal dropped two straight and looked to be sliding again.

A looming matchup against No. 4 Arizona on Saturday didn't appear to spark much confidence from the fan base, but Stanford was able to do the unthinkable. The Cardinal were not only able to secure their first win over a top-4 team since 2007, but they also were able to end Arizona's seven-game win streak.

Stanford's 88 points tied their season high mark that they set in game No. 1 against UOP, and got a handful of scoring outbursts. The entire starting five scored at least 12 points, with Michael O'Connell leading the way with a career-high 22 points. Spencer Jones also provided a surge in the second half scoring all 18 of his points, and was a key reason that the Cardinal were able to neutralize Azuolas Tubelis who came into the game averaging 20 points and nine rebounds, but was limited to just four points and no rebounds.

Stanford's defense clutched up at the right time, holding Arizona to 3-of-9 shooting in the final 5:42 of the game. The Cardinal had another good night from beyond the arc shooting 55% from three, and made 61% of their shots from the field.

Maples Pavilion was buzzing after Stanford's 88-79 win, and are now hoping they can take down No. 7 UCLA on the road on Thursday.

Stanford's new football coach Troy Taylor who chatted with us here at All Cardinal this past week, was also in attendance.
