247Sports predicts Stanford to win four games in year one under Troy Taylor

The expectations are very low for Stanford in 2023

With five or even six teams in the Pac-12 vying for a spot in the conference championship and the conference being its most competitive in a decade, Stanford is not expected to be one of the teams partaking in the success.

The Cardinal have been raided by the transfer portal losing a handful of starters, and also losing some key players to the NFL Draft. Troy Taylor, who is replacing David Shaw as the head coach, took the job just days before early signing day, and hadn't yet assembled a complete staff. This of course hurt the Cardinal on the recruiting trail for the 2023 class, but now that Taylor has settled in Stanford has made some moves.

Despite landing some transfers at key positions and making late additions from the high school ranks, 247Sports is not confident in how Stanford will perform when next season rolls around. When predicting how many wins each team in the conference will have next season, 247Sports' Raymond Lucas Jr. slated the Cardinal to win just four games citing:

Tanner McKee is no longer around, but Stanford's offense should receive a boost due to the arrival of head coach Troy Taylor. The Cardinal attempted to roll out Wake Forest's slow mesh offense in 2022, but it did not go well. At all. So while Stanford loses its star quarterback, at least it'll rid itself of that offensive approach as well.

Stanford's schedule doesn't do them any favors as they will be taking on what could be considered the best slate of quarterback play in the country, but Taylor's staff is certainly one to watch out for. While they did lose experienced players, it is possible for this team to overachieve and maybe surpass that win total, but one thing we do know is how different of a direction the program will be heading.
