Big Ten Commissioner Draws Comparison to Pac-12's George Kliavkoff Over Michigan Debacle
On Friday, the college football world learned of the Big Ten suspending Jim Harbaugh for the remainder of the regular season due to the illegal sign-stealing scandal.
The Big Ten released a statement on Friday, saying they found Michigan in violation of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy "for conducting an impermissible, in-person scouting operation over multiple years, resulting in an unfair competitive advantage that compromised the integrity of competition."
So, for the rest of the regular season, which of course includes their meeting with No. 1 Ohio State, Michigan will be without Harbaugh. The former Stanford coach can however be at practices. While many have jumped to scrutinize Michigan for its actions, Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti has also taken heat for appearing to be peer-pressured into a punishment by the other programs in the conference.
Something that Action Network's Brett McMurphy referenced in a social media post, saying that Petitti has drawn comparisons to Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff, who quite frankly isn't the best commissioner in college sports to be compared to considering he was at the forefront of the 100-year-old conference's collapse.
It will be interesting to see what happens to Michigan's relationship with the conference after this.
